Research Interests

1. Understanding the impact of individual and organisational factors on transfer of training in the workplace was the topic of my PhD completed in 1999.

2. Numerous funded projects with Prof. Gerry Fogarty have focused on the determinants of occupational health and well-being. Our major collaborators have been Queensland Health, the Department of Public Works, Main Roads, Queensland Transport, the Department of Industrial Relations, Queensland Treasury, the Department of Emergency Services, and the Southern Queensland Rural Division of General Practice.

3. Evaluation of training interventions designed to improve the well-being of the unemployed has been the focus of several projects with Dr Peter Creed from Griffith University.

4. Management of fatigue in long-distance driving is the focus of a funded project that was completed in 2002. Research is continuing into the organisational factors that influence drivers' safety beliefs, safety behaviour and well-being.

5. Antecedents and consequences of workplace incivility and the role of past experiences. Also examining what predicts the occurrence and reporting of harmful behaviours in the workplace.

6. Factors influencing motivational mindsets for participation in non-mandatory professional development activities provided within an organisational setting.
